A ton of people have asked me in person about my skincare routine lately! I always love a compliment but I am not the type to keep secrets to myself—Here are the die-hard skincare tips I live by….
- Inside out:
So for starters, I like to focus on the INSIDE of your skin because let’s face it (get it?), that controls a ton of what happens on the OUTSIDE. I take a multivitamin, a hair/skin/nails vitamin, and eat TONS of nutrient dense foods. I also make sure to get a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day, but always shoot for 12. These things can help fight acne and give your skin a radiant, glowy quality that you just can’t get from a product.
Here are the vitamins I use (I always go gummy because hey, that means I’ll actually eat them!).
- Less is more:
So I do NOT adhere to washing my face twice a day. Granted, my skin is very sensitive and thin but I found when I washed it with face wash twice daily it got SO dry. I read an article about “easy does it” for your skin… AKA: don’t use hash exfoliants, don’t use acid products, etc. just be gentle. That article also said just rinsing with water in the morning and applying your moisturizer is better than washing twice. So I only wash my face with soap once a day and simply rinse the other. It REALLY helped my skin to look dewy rather than drying out.
I also hardly ever do a full face of foundation unless I have an event. I use a tinted moisturizer or a BB cream instead. The less make up you slough on, the less ends up stuck in your pores!
- Quality over quantity:
The Kardashians say to “treat your face like silk” and this is one thing I agree with them about! If you use cheap, your skin will look cheap. I find it better to save up for a few good products than to have half the drug store in your bathroom. To find the right ones, I always get samples wherever I go… They’re my best friend. If I like one, I may go back and ask for another at the counter so I can make sure it works. If I like it the second time around, I am confident in my investment!
Just like with fine fabrics like silk and suede, you apply a protector just in case… I am VERY careful to protect my SKIN with sunscreen daily– a minimum of 50 SPF. I had a basal cell carcinoma on my face at age 20 so I am prone to skin cancers. PLUS who wants to deal with wrinkles later in life?! NOT ME. Protect your skin with high SPFs!
Here are my FAVE quality products:
*keep in mind that these ARE expensive, high quality product. I just don’t think skin is the place to skimp. There will be a post coming soon with details on each one.
