ABOUT SUGARFREE MEDIA:
Sugarfree Media is a news source for modern women who want to keep up with everything from current trends to current events. Founded in the heartland, our small team seeks to help women who were taught to always be polite know that it’s OK to not agree with everyone. It’s OK to use active voice. It’s OK to not sugarcoat things to make them more palatable for the receiver. We never want to present news in a superior way; we always strive to put it in a young woman’s language in a format that’s approachable while never talking down to her. We are building a safe place where young women can come and learn about the world around them without judgement, condescension, or bias. Come learn with us!
Our podcast, News Du Jour, is 10-15 minute news recaps EVERY weekday morning.
Our weekend newsletter, called Dreamer’s Digest, is a BUNCH of dreamy content recommendations for your weekend, to help you refill your cup. Has NOTHING to do with the news, but is about exploring unknown spaces and always kicks off with a weekly update from our founder, Annie Bowles. Sign up on our homepage!
On our Patreon, our supporters pay $7.99 / month for access to additional content like – our seasonal recipe book, breaking news text messages, extra bonus podcast episodes to binge, access to our networking/ discussion board, merch discounts, and more!
ABOUT FOUNDER, Annie Bowles:
She goes by her nickname “Annie,” but Antigone is her full name. She was born in Washington DC, grew up in Brussels Belgium, and attended high school in Tulsa Oklahoma where her parents grew up. She graduated from American University in Washington D.C. in after interning in both the Senate and the House of Representatives on Capitol Hill and studying abroad in both Italy and India. Coming home to the heartland, she grappled with the need to pull women into the political landscape as well as the lack of reliable news and news geared towards young women. She made it her mission to help fill those needs and never looked back.
Annie is mom to August Bowles, wife to Deven Bowles, and dog-mom to a rescue named Rhett. Gastroparesis became a big part of Annie’s life when she was diagnosed in 2016 and it has been a struggle ever since to balance health needs. That said, she credits her medical condition with pushing her to start Sugarfree Media so she can determine her own schedule – she’s never looked back!
